MY EXPERTISE lies in four areas of family
and community life, within which I have lived, studied, and worked for 30
years: psychology and sexuality; family life; progressive and alternative
education, and peaceful community living. For the past decade I have been
working in public and private, traditional and alternative educational and
therapeutic settings as a psychotherapist and educator.
I counsel couples, adults, teens, and families of all
configurations and lifestyles, including at-risk populations, as well as
people with severe and Rheumatoid arthritis, and other disabilities. I am
a general practitioner, qualified to address any issue, and specialize in
sexuality and body issues, relationships of partners, parents, and
families, and in teen life from both the parental and teenage viewpoints.

Beyond the approximate seven years of required academics and
experience for Marriage and Family Therapy, I have work and education in
sexuality and life management for persons with disabilities and their families;
in child and adolescent development; in parenting and family skills; and with
college and academic advisement. In addition I have five years of cutting edge
training and research in sexuality, marriage and alternative relationships. When
you consult with me, you are consulting with a specialist.
I raised two children, primarily as a single parent, while
putting myself through college as an adult student. My sons are now college age,
and I am a practicing psychotherapist of eight years
CONTINUING EDUCATION: I returned to graduate
school in 2002 and am currently a research and doctoral student in Psychology
and Sexology at Saybrook Institute in San Francisco. I focus on all aspects of
sexology and cutting edge counseling psychology. My research will eventually be
a book called Redefining Relationships - People and Partnerships in the 21st
Century.
ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS I hold (or have
held): Arthritis Support Group leader, by the Arthritis Foundation; Personal
Fitness Trainer, including for pre- and post-natal women, and in water exercise
for injured and disabled persons, by the American Council on Exercise and the
American Sports Medicine Association; and a Certificate in Interior Design from
Tidewater Community College in Virginia.
I then worked as a college counselor and advisor for five years.
I have taught family and life skills, college success seminars, sex and drug
education, and psychology at middle school, high school and college levels.
